Participant Success Story

Lachy, a 23-year-old with Spina Bifida came to Doveston health 2 years ago to help with his balance and strength on his feet as well as being able to lift weights and get strong. Lachy said that he loves going for bush walks with his family however gets back and hip pain if he goes for too long and wants to be able to keep up with everyone along the way. Over the last 2 years, We've been working on increasing his lower back strength to reduce the onset of his pain as well as focusing on upper body strength through exercises like bench press and cable rows. Now Lachy reported that on a family holiday to Cairns he never felt like slowing down when going through the rainforest walks and in the gym, he is nearly close to benching his body weight and can do unassisted chin-ups which he never thought was possible before we started.
